Ever since I discovered this park a couple of weeks ago, I have dropped by the park from time to time as it offers quite good photography opportunities if you are into nature like flora and fauna photography.
On the left of the hotel are two rows of shophouses with a small park behind them. Behind this park, there is a concrete pathway that leads out to the beach area.
If you walk along this pathway towards the beach, you will see a stream on your right. There is a small concrete bridge that link the pathway to the opposite bank of the stream. From this bridge, you can get a good view of the stream and its banks. If you look down from the bridge, you will see lots of small crabs and some occasional mudskippers during low tide. You will also see birds looking for food on the bed of the stream.
There are quite a lot of dragon flies, bees and butterflies. Occasionally, squirrels can be seen but they scurry away as soon as you approach. And please be warned that there are lots of mosquitoes and sand flies too so please be prepared. It is better to wear jeans or long trousers and bring along insect repellent to rub on the exposed parts of your body. I have been bitten countless times by mosquitoes and sand flies. Sand fly stings are pretty annoying as they cause swellings and a lot of itchiness. Both of my legs and some parts of my hands still carry lots of scars left behind by these sand fly stings. These take a long time to go away so you ladies please beware if you go to the park or beach.
The pathway is lined with trees and a myriad of plants. If you venture from the pathway towards the bank of the stream, you may get closer to the birds but as usual, if the birds spot you coming, they will take flight. I have spotted quite a number of birds but failed to capture some of them on my camera as they took flight before I could even aim my camera at them. Please excuse me for the not-too-satisfactory photos of the birds as I do not have a powerful zoom lens.
If you care to stop and look at the trees and plants, you will find subjects that you might want to capture on your camera. I took lots of photos of leaves (including dead leaves), branches, dead trees, plants, grass and flowers.
The concrete pathway will lead you to the beach behind the hotel. You can get a view of the Marina Bay with its giant sea horse.
