Giant whale, octopus, eagle, bat, and stingray took to Senadin’s skies this afternoon when the Giant Fancy Kite Flying and Show Carnival started at about 3.00pm at the proposed Senadin Water Theme Park area. Today is only the warm-up to the official opening tomorrow.
Organised by Vision Entertainment Group with the collaboration of Nikon Club Malaysia, the carnival is inspired by the Borneo International Kite Festival which is held in Bintulu annually. In conjunction with the kite carnival, Nikon Club Malaysia is organizing a photography contest which is open to all members of the club.
Dato Hii King Chiong and Datuk Lau Siu Wai are the guests of honours and they would jointly declare the programme open tomorrow together with the Mayor of Miri City Lawrence Lai.
There will also be a remote control (RC) car race, colouring competition, a trade expo, food and drinks bazaar, the 1/8 Mitro Buggy On-Road Borneo Open Challenge, Mr Festival 2015, a tug-of-war competition as well as singing performances by artists from here and Peninsular Malaysia.
Among the stalls at the carnival is one selling a very wide range of kites. I think the stall will do a roaring business tomorrow. So will the food and drink stalls.
As you can see from the photos, the variety of kites is quite impressive but you can expect an even more spectacular show tomorrow.
See you at the carnival tomorrow.
