Welcome 2019 Good Riddance 2018

Here comes 2019 the Year of the Female Earth Pig

Everybody is dreaming to make it big

Setting for themselves lofty goals and resolutions

Aspiring to elevate their life’s stations.

 

With a Yin Earth Year Fengshui masters are expecting mixed energies

World events may bring some good news and synergies

But with a dominant earth energy with a yin polarity

World finances are likely to experience much difficulty.

 

I have my goals and wishes for this year

For things I treasure so dear

I have travelled six decades in my life journey

Seen a lot of bullshit and baloney.

 

A senior citizen is what I am

But accurate still is my toilet aim

Health-wise there are a few red flags

I must exercise more self-discipline and pull some brakes.

 

My family is my top priority

For an unhappy family makes life feel so empty

With a close-knit family bond

Life is like a beautiful song.

 

I need to stick to my morning walk

I must walk the talk

For my old tender heart

I must play my part.

 

I have a sweet tooth since I was a kid

No wonder I have lost so many of my teeth

I really must cut down on my sugar intake

Need to correct my biggest dietary mistake.

 

My body has been rebelling

With frequent rash outbreaks and some small swellings

Belacan and red meat are often the culprits

I now realize a healthy diet has its merits.

 

Drinking plain water often seems to be a torture

It’s just not part of my personal culture

I will strive to overcome this bad habit

Millilitre by millilitre bit by bit.

 

I have a voracious appetite for fiction books

I need to do some reading every day by hooks or by crooks

100 books is my 2019 reading target

That would allow me to cut myself some slack.

 

The Pakatan Harapan government has caused many a jitter

One of my 2019 wishes is that things will take a turn for the better

Tun Mahathir must exercise more pragmatism

To rein in the growing dissent and pessimism.

 

The crossovers of opposition members is cause for concern

What is really going on behind the scene is not easy to discern

May the spirit of the PH coalition

Triumphs for the good of our nation.

 

2019 I extend you my warmest welcome

May you bless me and my family in the days to come

2018 I bid you good riddance

You have been a year of pittance.
