It was in 2006 that I first participated in World Vision Child Sponsorship Programme. I was working in Brunei at that time and I came to know that my boss’ school going daughter Rachel was sponsoring some kids through World Vision. I took up the challenge and the first child I sponsored was a Thai boy by the name of Ponglit Sarapong.
I have been involved in World Vision for slightly over 10 years and I have sponsored in all five kids. A couple of months ago, I received a letter from World Vision that Ha Van Minh, the Vietnamese boy that I started sponsoring in 2008, no longer requires my sponsorship as he has finished schooling and has found a job. Every year since 2008, I received an annual progress report on Ha Van Minh from World Vision. Ha also sent me greeting cards every year that he was under my sponsorship.
In replacement for Ha Van Minh, World Vision has put a 3-year old Vietnamese boy by the name of Vi Thanh Van under my sponsorship.
I am no trying to brag but rather I hope to encourage you to get involved in World Vision Child Sponsorship Programme. A lot of people live in their comfort zone and hold on to the limiting belief that they cannot do much as there are so many impoverished kids worldwide.
But you can. You will change the life of the kid you sponsor.
Remember the starfish story.
I encourage you to take up the challenge that will make a difference to some kid’s life. Sponsor a kid today!
