Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has hailed the Malaysian Manchester United fan who wore the Red Devils jersey to a Liverpool training session on Thursday at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil in Kuala Lumpur a “legend”.
Rooney took to Twitter last night to praise the young man, saying “The lad who went to watch Liverpool train in MUFC top with my name on the back is a legend.”
The young MU fan was jeered by thousands of Liverpool supporters after he turned up to see their team train in his Wayne Rooney top.
He resisted attempts to strip him, but his jersey was eventually lifted off in front of a crowd yelling “Buka! Buka!” (“Take it off!”).
He refused to put on the Liverpool jersey, even as it was forcibly put over his head, and sat stone-faced and shirtless for a moment before he was led away from the jeering fans.
It is true that the Manchester United fan pushed his luck a little too far but I admire his guts. Watch the video of the incident.
