A Chinese man proposed to his girlfriend in a most unusual manner at a shopping square in the city of Qingdao in east China’s Shandong province recently.
Pang Kun roped in 48 of his friends and they gathered at Aofan Square in Qingdao dressed as carrots. The group performed a dance to the theme song of Jiangsu TV dating show “If You Are the One” in front of bemused crowds which included Pang’s girlfriend Zhang Xinyu. Zhang initially thought she was only a spectator and called her boyfriend to tell him about the spectacle.
The hidden Pang then spoke through a microphone to Zhang: “Six months ago I met you. I still remember your shyness on our first date, my longing for the next date, and my excitement the first time I held your hand at the movie theatre.”
Pang then emerged from his orange carrot suit and handed Zhang a message before getting down on bended knee to propose to Zhang.
Onlookers shouted “Marry him! Marry him!” to Zhang whose favorite color is orange.
An obviously embarrassed Zhang gladly accepted his proposal.
Pang had planned the proposal over a three-week period at a cost of some 100,000 yuan. He has become an Internet sensation, with netizens dubbing him ‘carrot boy’ and ‘brother carrot’.
