He is the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them— he remains faithful forever. Psalm 146:6
This is the Bible verse that greeted us when we entered The Maker yesterday morning. Yes, Miri now has a café with a revolutionary theme: Christianity.
A replica of a Royal Mail postal box seems to stand guard near the entrance. Beside it, Christian literature is displayed on some shelves.
A long table is lined up against the glass panel fronting the café with a few bar stools for customers who want a direct view of the outside area of the café.
The walls inside the café are adorned with posters with biblical verses. There are shelves with mugs bearing biblical verses and other Christianity-themed momentoes.
Towards the back portion of the café are shelves filled with Christian books with a piano keyboard placed beneath one of the shelves.
The settings gave me the odd sensation of having sneaked into a cosy church office or cafeteria. I quite like the cosy ambience.
My wife ordered a Hazelnut Latte while I had a Café Latte. For desserts, we opt for a slice of Berlin Chocolate cake and a Pate a Choux.
We loved the lattes and the pastries. The lattes were served in mugs with biblical verses. The chocolate cake was yummy and not too sweet. The pate a choux is a cream puff with vanilla pastry cream. It was delicious too and I think this was probably the first time that I have tasted one.
We enjoyed our experience at this café and we will definitely be back again for the heavenly delights.
