After our brunch today, my son and I went to Tamu Muhhibah to look for Tembaga durians. Many vendors were selling the durians at prices ranging from RM20 to RM25 per kilo.
After browsing around, we approached one of the vendors and asked him for the best price that he could offer. He quoted RM18 so we decided to buy from him. I chose 2 durians and the weight was 3 kilo.
Amongst the Ibans, the temabga durian is the best durian in the world. Durian aficionados in Sarawak are willing to pay extra to savour the fruit. Tembaga just means “copper” in Malay.
Upon reaching home, I immediately opened the two durians. From the colour and texture of the flesh, I knew I was in for a real treat. And I was right!
The texture is smooth and the taste is a rich bittersweet. It was truly a heavenly delight!
