I have blogged about ice kacang outlets springing up all over Miri in my blog article “Old Taste Ice Kacang & Rojak Warisan.” And I am now seeing a trend in Miri. Established ice kacang outlets are opening new branches to increase their shares of the ice kacang market.
Old Taste Ice Kacang & Rojak Warisan recently opened its second outlet at Lot 8527, Siang Siang Shophouses, Jalan Luak Bay. I wrote about Old Taste in my above-mentioned blog article. And shortly after that, Yummy Rojak House also opened their second outlet at Boulevard Commercial Centre just behind Courts Mammoth. Yummy’s first outlet is at Dua Puluh Sen Supermarket in Senadin.

I have tried both of the two new outlets and my verdict is that Yummy is the better choice. Yummy’s ice kacang tastes a tad nicer than Old Taste’s but its price of RM3.00 is value for money compared to Old Taste’s price of RM3.50. Indeed I would now rank Yummy’s ice kacang as among the best in Miri.

Sin Wan Delight & Cold Drink Centre in Bintang Jaya 2 near the Petronas Station used to be my favourite but I feel that its quality has dropped and its price of RM3.80 is exhorbitant compared to other ice kacang outlets.
Another ice kacang outlet that I like is 86 Cold Drinks in Taman Tunku. Their homemade ice cream with ice kacang is nice. I have not been there for a long while due its inconvenient location. One of these days when I am free, I will drop by there to savour their ice cream ice kacang again.
