Japanese engineering company Cosmo Power has developed a modern, miniature version of Noah’s Ark Ark built to withstand earthquakes and tsunamis. It is basically a floating capsule that looks like a huge tennis ball.
Dubbed Noah’s capsules – after the ark which survived biblical floods – the 4-feet-in-diameter enhanced fiberglass capsule is designed to withstand giant waves and flooding thus saving lives during a devastating disaster like the earthquake/tsunami that hit Japan earlier this year. It has windows and breathing holes and can hold up to four adults inside and it has survived many crash tests.
The capsule, costing about $3,900, can also serve as a children’s toy house during those non-disaster moments of life.
Company president Shoji Tanaka said the company has already delivered two capsules and has orders for 600 more.
