My son Clarence and daughter-in-law Amanda are back in Miri for a short holiday over this Easter weekend. We were driving home this afternoon when Clarence decided to drop by The Ruffles for a drink and to try out their offerings.
The Ruffles, located at Lot 1034 Piasau Industrial Estate, is owned by the younger sister of Clarence’s ex-classmate. The young lady went to Japan to learn how to make desserts.
When we entered the café, there was no customer at all. It was very quiet and had a nice cosy ambiance.
We ordered durian mille-crepe, green tea chocolate tart, Earl Grey mille-crepe and lemon cheese tarts. For our drinks, we ordered an ice café latte, a hot tea, an ice mocha, and two café latte.
Unlike the desserts at many similar outlets, the desserts here are not too sweet. I find them yummy especially the durian mille-crepe. They really have neat treats. I also enjoyed my ice mocha.
When we left the café, the crowd was starting to trickle in, with a few tables occupied and a couple of tables reserved.
If you wish to try out The Ruffles, it is quite easy to find as it is situated just next to the main road a short distance before Ng Sian Hap Trading Sdn Bhd. if you are driving from Krokop area towards Piasau.
