Crepuscular Rays

Crepuscular rays at Lutong Beach

Crepuscular rays at Lutong Beach

Streaming brightly through gaps in the clouds,

The shafts of light leave me without doubts,

Beautiful sun rays showing their might,

Before the sun retires for the night.

Like furrows of a freshly ploughed field,

These God rays are a wonder to view,

Sunbeams shining from the dusky sky,

Like ladder to heaven up so high.

Enamoured by the dazzling sight,

My eyes are raptured with great delight,

In awe of God and Mother Nature,

It’s time to look for greener pasture.

It’s just an illusion of angle,

But I can’t deny it’s a wonder,

Aura from the sun please fill my days,

Oh I love you crepuscular rays!

  1. Congratulations. Chin Yong, the poem aptly describes the effect of this spectacular phenomenon – the theme? The rhyme schemes are matching, the cadence in each line are regular being / te tem / te tem / te tem / te tem tem/. Lots of literary devises being employed – similes, images, jargons, personification, tone, etc…

    Keep them coming.
