Li Chun 2021
Today is Li Chun (立春), the first festival of the Chinese solar year. Li Chun means the beginning of Spring and it is a time when we all look forward to a fresh revitalised beginning.
Among the older Chinese generation, today is a very significant day. Many hold the belief that depositing money into the banks during Li Chun symbolises steady income throughout the year. They choose auspicious timings based on their Chinese zodiac signs to do the bank deposits.
And many will practice egg balancing whereby an egg can be balanced upright on a flat surface. This is made possible because of the alignment of the moon and the sun on this day, altering thje earth’s gravitational field. Try it!
