I Am Colour Blind

I am colour blind,

That doesn’t mean I am blind,

I have a colour vision deficiency,

Colour recognition is not my proficiency.

 

Colour blindness is not the end of everything,

It is just a different perception of things,

It’s due to some genetic defect,

That renders me imperfect.

 

It has been said that a person who sees a green light everywhere is an optimist,

And one who sees only the red light is a pessimist,

But the truly wise person is colour blind,

He is one of a kind.

 

During World War II American men with red-green colour blindness were sent on special missions,

They could detect camouflage better with their deficient vision,

From them the enemies found it harder to hide,

Colour blind soldiers were the pride.

 

Bing Crosby often thought something was a beautiful blue,

When it was actually a billous green hue,

He often wore two different coloured socks,

Matching colours he thought.

 

Mark Zuckerberg has red-green colour blindness,

He loves blue for its richness,

He can see all of blue,

That’s why Facebook is blue.

 

Paul Newman the most famous blue eyes in the movie industry,

Colour mix-ups abound in his life history,

Jack Nicklaus, Meat Loaf, Mark Twain, Bill Clinton and Paul Newman,

Colour blindness is what is common among these men.

 

With so many luminaries for company,

I don’t have to feel funny,

Though I will never be able to become a pilot,

Many other professions can also give me a fat wallet.
