I became a fan of Tom Wood after reading his “The Final Hour” about a fortnight ago. It was thus with high expectation that I began reading his “Kill For Me.” And I can only say “Wow!”
Kill For Me is explosively propulsive, kicking off with a bang! Lethal assassin Victor is in Guatemala for a gun purchase for his latest assignment to assassinate Maria Salvatierra, the head of a drug cartel in the country. Heloise Salvatierra has been engaged in a very bloody feud with her sister Maria for control over their late father’s cartel. Having had no success in permanently getting rid of her sister thus far, Heloise turns to hiring the highly recommended Victor. Unknown to Victor, Heloise also hires another highly recommended assassin known as Constantin as an insurance act in case Victor fails in carrying out his assassination. Constantin is one who kills for pleasure and intends to kill Victor.
With Maria in the cross-hairs of both Victor and Constantin, it becomes a race to get the job done. Victor must decide who to kill first before he gets himself killed as he navigates his way through betrayals. Like Heloise, Maria is well-protected by a large entourage of heavily-armed men, requiring Victor to use his ingenuity to get close to her. Victor’s only chance at survival is to team up with the deadly Constantin, despite knowing that the later would kill him to claim the money that Heloise has offered for the death of her sister.
Kill For Me is really a page-turner with gasp-inducing plots. It further cements Tom Wood as one of my favourite authors. I look forward with great anticipation to reading more of Tom Wood’s books.
