Stir-fried ice cream or “ice pan” ice cream is now available in Miri. This China guy is operating on the 5 foot way of Kang He Trading in Yakin Commercial Centre.
I dropped by to try the ice cream with my son yesterday afternoon after our brunch. It was interesting to see how the ice cream rolls were made.
The guy sells them in two sizes: the small one is RM4 while the large one is RM7. The ice cream comes in three flavour: milk, chocolate, and green tea.
After this guy pours some milk and an Oreo cookie onto an ultra-cold metal pan, he uses two metal spatulas to chop up the cookie and mix and stir the mixture, which freezes and solidifies. The ice cream is smoothed flat for scraping into curls and served in cups. On top of each curl, a fancy gem biscuit is placed. Chocolate chips are then sprinkled before Hershey’s chocolate syrup is added.
I ordered a large chocolate flavour ice cream while my son opted for a large green tea flavour ice cream. As the vendor takes about 3 minutes to make one such ice cream, we had to wait for over twenty minutes before our orders were fulfilled as there were a couple of other people who ordered earlier than us.
Was it worth the wait? Definitely! I enjoyed the delicious cookie filled ice cream rolls.
In this video that I uploaded to Youtube, you can see the process of how the stir-fried ice cream is made.
