A touching and emotional video made by a 16-year-old girl named Kait from Grand Rapids, Michigan, about her mother’s suicide has gone viral, tugging at the heart strings of people all over the world.
Smiling brightly for the camera, Brave Kait, does not speak a single word but holds handwritten messages saying people would call her ‘the strongest girl in the world’ before revealing heart break she has been through and the tragic secret she hides.
She reveals that on October 5th, 2011, her mum died…she found her hanging in the woods from suicide.
She explains that the reason she is smiling instead of crying is because her ‘beautiful mom’ would want her to be happy and that her mum loved to see her smile.
Flashing a photograph of her mother, Kait kisses it, smiling, before telling viewers that though she misses her, ‘she is in a better place now and I have the best guardian angel ever’.
She finally advises viewers that if they are having suicidal thoughts to ‘GET HELP’ and promises that ‘life gets better’.
While she tells her heartbreaking story, a moving song that was played at her mother’s funeral plays in the background.
The song – If I Die Young by American country group The Band Perry – tells the story of a woman who claims she’s not scared of death and, if she dies young, her family should save their tears because she knows she has had a good life.
These are words that brave Kait has obviously taken on board.
The 16-year-old’s video has been watched more than 30,000 times.
