The Fisherman Wharf officially opened for business today a week after Tun Dr Mahathir became the 7th Prime Minister of Malaysia at age 92. The restaurant is owned by my nephew Terrence Lim, the youngest son of my eldest brother Chin Tian.
The restaurant is easy to find as it is situated next to Dr Teo’s Clinic. It offers Malaysian perennial favourites ranging from seafood, nasi lemak, fried kueh tiaw, fried rice, fried beehoon, fried noodle and set meal with rice. It does not serve pork and alcoholic beverages.
My wife, my son Leslie and I dropped by earlier this evening for dinner. I had nasi lemak pandan with daging rendang and sambal udang while my wife’s choice was nasi lemak pandan with daging masak hitam and sambal sotong. Leslie opt for pandan rice with daging masak hitam.
We were probably the first customers as we had the whole restaurant to ourselves. The ambiance was quiet and cosy. A few lifebuoys and nettings add a nice touch to the décor.
We enjoyed the food as the various dishes tasted good. As I have always been a lover of nasi lemak, I find their sambal real nice though a tad too spicy for me as I do not have a high tolerance for spiciness. The crunchy peanuts and crispy ikan bilis tasted great with the sambal. We will definitely be back soon. By the way, the prices are quite reasonable.
When we left the restaurant at about 7.15 pm, people started arriving and there were about 10 customers in the restaurant. I then realised that today is also the first day of Ramadan.
To my nephew Terrence, we wish you all the best in your business and may the restaurant enjoy brisk business. 3188!
